Exquisite Fabric and Stitch Workshop with artist Helen Bankers, and stitch genius Erika Schaab-Farrant- Thursday October 3rd and 10th 6-8pm
Here at Studio Makers, we can't quite believe our good fortune. In October we will be hosting the most amazing visual artist and photographer, Helen Bankers. We have long admired Helen's work, and her recent range of dreamy printed luxury fabrics is utterly exquisite. We are offering this amazing opportunity to a small number of people - the chance to create a stunning embroidery composition on Helen's beautiful fabric as a base.
In this 2-part, floral inspired embroidery workshop you will meet, and hear from, the designer herself. The workshops are held on two consecutive Thursdays, 3rd and 10th October, 6-8pm.
The first workshop will begin with a talk with the wonderful Helen Bankers, who will reveal to us the inspirations behind her art, the creative process and how she came to design her stunning range of fabrics. After Helen's talk we will introduce to you the immensely clever and crafty, Erika Schaab-Farrant, a costume designer and 'maker extraordinaire'. Erika is a regular fixture at Studio Makers as our head tutor of all things craft. She will instruct and guide you through creating your own beautiful piece of embroidery on Helen Bankers fabrics. In the second workshop you will complete your embroidery design, and mount it in its embroidery frame with a lovely backing, finished with a pretty ribbon.
'Country Garden'is a modern take on 19th century scientific botanical illustrations. A melange of botanical specimens including belladonna, brunia, cosmos, hydrangea petals & greens, lisianthus, nigella, thistles, and zinnias, with dark shades of green and beautiful lush pops of floral colour.

“I’m drawn to aesthetics which resonate on an emotional level, through our sense of touch and visual memories.” Helen studied fine arts before choosing to explore her creativity through photography. The new designs are created from her photographic works printed onto luxury fabrics. “These latest works have evolved from my original limited edition works on paper. I have enjoyed experimentingwith the print process, using new technology to transfer the artworks onto beautiful fabrics.
We are so excited to be offering this workshop to our lovely customers. This is a very special class, and with strictly limited spaces, we urge you to get in quick!!!
